Aging Myth: "Older adults can't learn new things."
Why It’s Inaccurate:
This myth couldn’t be further from the truth. While the brain changes with age, it remains capable of forming new neural connections and pathways — a concept known as neuroplasticity. And it can create new neural connections — called neurogenesis. Older adults may take a bit more time to learn something new, but with practice and interest, they can master new technologies, languages, instruments, or skills just like younger people. In fact, continued learning is good for the aging brain — it strengthens memory, attention, and mood. And the late and great message from science: the brain craves novelty, at any age.
