AGING ROUNDTABLE RECAP | Becoming Interested in Your Future Again

This week’s roundtable was designed around four connected moments.

Looking back — Members were invited to reflect on what they’re most proud of in their lives, what gave life meaning, and the strengths that carried them through.

Today — The discussion then shifted to present-day sources of joy—relationships, grandchildren, nature, music, faith, learning, and helping others.

The future — The heart of the session centered on one simple question: What are you looking forward to? Not something grand—perhaps a person to meet, a place to visit, something still to learn, or a fear to quietly face. The hope was to notice how it feels simply to think forward.

The idea that anchored it all — Healthy aging isn’t only about nutrition, exercise, or medical care. Psychological health also depends on having something that pulls us forward. Not pressure. Not obligation. Interest. Growth doesn’t begin with action. It begins with interest.

As a takeaway, readers are invited to complete this sentence:

This week I'd like to become a little more interested in...

And then ask themselves:

What is one thing I will explore before we meet again?

Our future doesn't disappear as we get older. Sometimes our attention simply drifts away from it. This week's roundtable was an invitation to gently turn it back.
